The Soundtrack of Our Lives

By johnsoni

I have decided to begin a nice little blog about the all music that blows my mind.  In the past I have just posted music-related messages on Facebook or through email, but I find this blog thing to be a better medium for sharing music.  All kinds of music.  From old rarities I pull from a dusty stack of vinyls to bootleg concerts to brand new bands just trying to find their beginning in this whole musical world–I will share what I’ve got and I’ll give what I find.  I hope to have all of your help in submitting your favorite albums or tracks or even songs you recorded yourself, all for the purpose of bringing together the music that continues to inspire us.

That said, the very first submission:

Justin Townes Earle

“Like the late Van Zandt, Earle uses a base of acoustic blues and prewar folk to build his own brand of American roots music.” –Nashville Scene

Justin Townes Earle is the son of the “Hardcore Troubadour” Steve Earle and bears the name of his hero and poetic savior Townes Van Zandt.  He stirs together a big pot of blues, classic country and good ol’ rock n roll.

Here is a soundboard download of his full performance at Portland Oregon’s Pickathon 2008:
